You’re in. Here’s what happens next.

Before you buy near Fort Hood, plan how you’ll leave.

Proudly serving Veterans, Nurses, Active-Duty Military, and Those Who Serve.

I’m Danny Bass, a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer and Central Texas REALTOR. I look at every home by asking one question first: what happens when your next orders come?

Active-duty military

I help military families plan around PCS orders, duty schedules, and the possibility of another move before committing to a home.

The question nobody asks

Most of the advice near post gets you in. Almost nobody plans the way out.

When orders come, every homeowner around Fort Hood ends up on one of three paths. The mistake is not knowing which one you’re on before you sign.

  1. 01

Keep it and rent it out.

We check what the home would realistically rent for compared to your payment, and whether you could manage it from your next duty station.

  2. 02

    Sell it cleanly.

We look at how the home stacks up against nearby new builds and what the next buyer will actually want.

  3. 03

    Rent this tour instead.

If your time here is short or the numbers don’t hold up, renting may protect you better. I’ll tell you that straight.

How I work

Why soldiers and veterans call me first

For nurses and healthcare professionals, I bring the same practical approach: clear communication, flexible scheduling, and a plan that respects your time.

  1. 01

    I’ve made these moves myself.

Over 20 years in the Army taught me what a PCS really costs a family. I plan around it before we ever look at a house.

  2. 02

I’ll tell you not to buy.

I would rather lose a deal than help you into a house that becomes an anchor.

  3. 03

I know the VA from the inside.

I worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs after I retired, and I work with lenders who know VA financing well.

  4. 04

    I work around duty hours.

Field time, staff duty, and deployments don’t stop the process. If you’re still at your last duty station, we can start before you arrive.

Your VA benefit, explained without the runaround

A VA loan expects you to live in the home when you buy it. If orders later take you elsewhere, keeping it as a rental is often possible. Keeping it can tie up part of your entitlement, which may affect your next purchase.

Your VA lender confirms your exact numbers. My job is to make sure you understand the tradeoffs before you commit.

What this looks like in real life

Case study 01

About $2,000

back at closing

About $2,000 back at closing.

A soldier I worked with, Lucas, received about $2,000 back at closing through Homes for Heroes. If you’re eligible, that’s money you’ve earned coming back to you.

Case study 02

Off-market

sold before it went public

Sold before it hit the market.

I helped an Army veteran sell a home in Dawson Ranch in Belton before it ever went public. When orders come and selling is the answer, I don’t just put a sign in the yard.

Case study 03

$2,139

back at closing

$2,139 back at closing.

I helped Juliet, a nurse, and Anthony purchase a new D.R. Horton home. Through my participation in Homes for Heroes, they received $2,139 back at closing.

Homes for Heroes eligibility varies. Your lender approves how it applies with a VA loan.

About Danny

I’m Danny. Most people call me the Chief.

I spent over 20 years in the Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. After that, I worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Today I help soldiers and veterans across Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton, Temple, and Salado make home decisions that still make sense when orders change. The Army taught me to take care of people, plan before you act, and never leave anyone behind. I run my business the same way.
